Plaster boarding

Options for wall construction or restoration include Dot and Dab and General Plaster Boarding. Dot and Dab involves applying dry wall adhesive in dabs to stick plasterboard to walls, providing a cost-effective method for preparing walls for finishing. While some may have concerns about the hollow sound and difficulty in fixing objects to dot and dabbed walls, various types of plasterboard can be used in this process. On the other hand, General Plaster Boarding entails screwing plasterboard to new stud walls and ceilings, accommodating different types of plasterboard based on building control specifications and room conditions.

For existing ceilings and walls, Over Boarding is a convenient option for installing a new ceiling without removing the old one, particularly beneficial for original lathe and plaster surfaces prone to issues like cracking, sagging, or collapsing. This method has proven popular among customers seeking a practical solution for their ceiling concerns.

Skimming Over Artex

During the 70’s and 80’s using artex to create decorative finishes on walls and ceilings was very popular. However, modern décor generally favours the clean smooth flat finish.

Mckenzie Plastering has many years experience in helping to modernise homes in this way.

Artex can either be overboarded and skimmed or stabilised and skimmed over directly to create a smooth finish.
